The challenge
The company, a premium men's athletic-fit apparel brand, had an existing Brightpearl-ShipStation integration that needed to evolve as their fulfillment operations scaled. New carrier relationships, expanded shipping zones, and more complex order routing rules — including split-shipment logic and carrier selection criteria — had outpaced the capabilities of their original integration configuration. Without updates, the integration would increasingly require manual workarounds to support new shipping workflows.
What we built
- Audited and refactored the existing Brightpearl-ShipStation connector to accommodate the current state of The company's carrier relationships and shipping zone definitions
- Implemented updated carrier selection rules within the integration layer based on order weight, destination zone, and service level requirements
- Built expanded order routing logic to support multi-location fulfillment scenarios and split-shipment workflows for orders spanning multiple SKU categories
- Added new ShipStation shipping rule sets aligned with carrier contracts, including rate-shopping criteria and carrier fallback sequencing
- Established integration monitoring and alerting updates to reflect the new routing logic, ensuring operational visibility into fulfillment pipeline health
The outcome
- Fulfillment operations accommodated new carrier relationships and shipping workflows without manual workarounds following integration updates
- Order routing accuracy improved as carrier selection logic was aligned with current contractual and operational requirements
- ShipStation label generation throughput maintained without disruption as The company scaled into new shipping zones and volume tiers
- Operations team gained a stable, extensible integration foundation capable of incorporating future carrier and routing changes
