The challenge
The company manages a broad catalog of home goods in Brightpearl but relied on manual processes to publish product listings, pricing updates, and inventory availability to their Shopify storefront. Catalog changes made in Brightpearl did not propagate automatically, leading to outdated product information online and inventory discrepancies that affected customer experience. The team needed a reliable, automated pipeline to keep their Shopify storefront in sync with their retail management system.
What we built
- Built a Brightpearl-to-Shopify product listing integration that automatically publishes new products and catalog changes from Brightpearl to the Shopify storefront
- Implemented real-time inventory level synchronization so stock availability reflected in Brightpearl is always current on Shopify
- Configured pricing rule mapping to ensure Brightpearl pricing updates flow to Shopify product variants without manual intervention
- Added product attribute and metadata sync to carry descriptions, images, and categorization data from Brightpearl into Shopify accurately
- Established monitoring and alerting for failed sync events so catalog discrepancies are caught and resolved quickly
The outcome
- Eliminated manual product publishing effort, allowing merchandising changes made in Brightpearl to appear on Shopify automatically
- Reduced instances of overselling by keeping Shopify inventory levels continuously aligned with Brightpearl stock data
- Improved storefront accuracy and customer trust by ensuring product details, pricing, and availability are always up to date
- Freed the operations team from catalog maintenance tasks so they could focus on procurement and merchandising strategy
