The challenge
The company operates a B2B product catalog through BigCommerce and serves enterprise procurement customers who require formal procurement system integration rather than standard checkout. Enterprise buyers using Coupa, Ariba, and SAP procurement platforms needed to connect directly to the the team catalog via cXML Punchout — a protocol their standard BigCommerce storefront did not natively support. Without Punchout capability, the team was excluded from enterprise procurement workflows requiring catalog round-trips through eProcurement systems.
What we built
- Implemented cXML Punchout integration for the The company BigCommerce storefront, enabling enterprise procurement systems to initiate Punchout sessions and browse the live catalog
- Built Punchout Setup Message (OCI/cXML) handling to authenticate and establish secure sessions between buyer eProcurement platforms and the BigCommerce catalog
- Configured cart transfer and PunchOut Order Message (POOM) generation so buyer-selected items returned correctly formatted to the procurement system for requisition approval
- Established compatibility with major eProcurement platforms including Coupa, SAP Ariba, and SAP SRM through standards-compliant cXML implementation
- Integrated catalog pricing and availability from BigCommerce into Punchout session data so enterprise buyers saw accurate, real-time product information during catalog browsing

- The company unlocked access to enterprise procurement workflows requiring Punchout catalog connectivity, expanding the addressable B2B buyer base
