    The challenge

    The company, one of the largest the team media and publishing organizations in the United States, needed their BigCommerce store connected to Sage Intacct to automate the accounting of product sales, donations, and supporter records. Without an integration, finance staff manually processed eCommerce transactions into the ERP, creating delays in revenue recognition and donor record maintenance that were not sustainable for a growing non-profit operation. Accurate fund accounting and donor tracking were essential for organizational transparency and compliance.

    What we built

    • Built a BigCommerce-to-Sage Intacct integration covering order, donation, and customer record synchronization
    • Implemented revenue classification logic to correctly distinguish and route product sale revenue and donation receipts to the appropriate Intacct funds and GL accounts
    • Developed donor and customer record sync to maintain consistent supporter profiles between BigCommerce and Intacct
    • Engineered automated order-to-invoice creation in Intacct upon BigCommerce order completion, including product detail and fulfillment status
    • Configured non-profit fund accounting mapping to align with The company' organizational reporting and compliance requirements

    The outcome

    • BigCommerce product sales and donation transactions flow automatically into Sage Intacct, eliminating manual financial entry
    • Revenue is correctly classified by fund and account in real time, supporting accurate non-profit financial reporting
    • Donor and supporter records are maintained consistently across both systems without manual reconciliation
    • The finance team operates a streamlined close process with eCommerce and donation data arriving in the ERP automatically
