The challenge
The company manages their direct sales and network marketing operations through ByDesign, but needed ShipBob to serve as their third-party logistics fulfillment partner. Without an integration between the two systems, orders generated and approved within ByDesign had to be manually submitted to ShipBob for pick-pack-ship processing, creating fulfillment bottlenecks and tracking visibility gaps for both the company and their distributor network. An automated order routing and tracking sync was essential to support their growing sales volume.
What we built
- Built an automated integration between ByDesign and ShipBob that routes approved orders from the direct sales platform to the 3PL for fulfillment
- Implemented order eligibility and status filtering in ByDesign to ensure only confirmed, payment-verified orders are transmitted to ShipBob
- Developed product and SKU mapping between ByDesign catalog records and ShipBob warehouse inventory identifiers
- Engineered tracking number and shipment confirmation callbacks from ShipBob back into ByDesign so distributor and customer order records reflect live fulfillment status
- Built error handling and retry logic to manage transmission failures and ensure no approved orders are lost in transit between systems
The outcome
- Approved ByDesign orders route automatically to ShipBob for fulfillment, eliminating manual order submission workflows
- Tracking numbers and shipment confirmations sync back into ByDesign in real time, giving distributors and customers accurate delivery visibility
- Fulfillment processing speed increased as orders enter the ShipBob 3PL pipeline immediately upon ByDesign approval
- Operations staff were freed from manual order handoff tasks, enabling focus on distributor support and growth activities
