The challenge
The company, an Irish stationery and office supplies retailer, maintained their product catalog in Brightpearl but needed product listings — including descriptions, pricing, images, and inventory availability — published accurately to their Shopify storefront. Without integration, catalog updates required duplicated effort across both systems, and inconsistencies between Brightpearl and Shopify created customer-facing product data errors.
What we built
- Integrated Brightpearl as the master product catalog, pushing all product data changes to Shopify automatically
- Configured sync of product descriptions, titles, variants, and images from Brightpearl to Shopify with field-level mapping
- Automated pricing updates so changes made in Brightpearl reflected on the Shopify storefront without separate manual updates
- Synced inventory availability from Brightpearl to Shopify in real time to prevent overselling and maintain accurate stock display
- Established catalog governance rules to ensure Shopify product data remained consistent with Brightpearl as the source of truth
The outcome
- Product management was consolidated in Brightpearl, eliminating the need to update Shopify separately for catalog changes
- Shopify storefront reflected accurate pricing and inventory at all times, improving the customer browsing and purchasing experience
- Time spent on manual catalog maintenance was substantially reduced, allowing the team to focus on merchandising and buying
- The company established a single source of product truth that scaled with their growing catalog without adding operational complexity
