The challenge
The company, one of the world's largest online retailers of live marine coral specimens, operates multiple Shopify storefronts to serve distinct segments of their growing customer base. Managing financial data from two separate Shopify stores and ensuring all eCommerce activity posted accurately into Sage Intacct for consolidated financial management required manual effort that did not scale with their rapid growth.
What we built
- Integrated the primary Shopify storefront with Sage Intacct to automate financial posting of orders, refunds, and payments
- Extended the integration to a second Shopify store, ensuring both storefronts fed into a unified Sage Intacct general ledger
- Configured store-level financial segmentation within Sage Intacct so performance by storefront remained independently reportable
- Automated handling of Shopify payouts and fee transactions to maintain accurate cash and revenue account balances
- Implemented live coral–specific order handling rules to manage high-value, time-sensitive transaction classification correctly
The outcome
- Both Shopify storefronts posted financial data to Sage Intacct automatically, providing a consolidated view of the business
- Finance team eliminated manual data export and entry across two stores, reclaiming significant time each reporting period
- Store-level performance remained independently visible within Sage Intacct, supporting targeted business decisions
- The company gained a financial automation infrastructure capable of supporting additional storefronts as the business scaled
