The challenge
The company, creator of licensed snack products sold in major retail chains, was scaling its retail distribution footprint through an increasing number of EDI trading partners. Their existing SPS Commerce setup required additional trading partner connections to be integrated with Sage Intacct, and managing that expansion manually was creating compliance risk and order processing bottlenecks.
What we built
- Extended The company's SPS Commerce integration with Sage Intacct to onboard additional retail EDI trading partners
- Automated inbound purchase order processing from each new trading partner directly into Sage Intacct sales orders
- Configured outbound EDI documents — order acknowledgments, advance ship notices, and invoices — to meet retailer-specific compliance requirements
- Established a scalable trading partner onboarding framework within SPS Commerce to reduce time-to-live for future retail relationships
- Implemented monitoring and alerting for EDI transaction failures to protect retailer compliance scorecards
The outcome
- The company successfully expanded retail EDI trading partner coverage without adding operational headcount
- Retail purchase orders flowed automatically into Sage Intacct, accelerating order-to-fulfillment cycle times
- EDI compliance documentation was generated and transmitted consistently, protecting retailer relationships
- The integration framework positioned The company to onboard new retail partners rapidly as distribution continued to grow
