The challenge
The company, an inventory management SaaS platform serving multi-channel retailers, identified a gap in their marketplace connectivity offering: their merchant customers lacked a reliable, automated path to push inventory levels from the team into Wayfair's supplier portal. Without this connector, merchants on the team had to manage Wayfair inventory updates manually, undermining the automation value proposition of the platform itself.
What we built
- Designed and built a full The company-to-Wayfair inventory sync connector enabling merchants to automatically push real-time inventory levels from the team to Wayfair's supplier inventory feed
- Implemented SKU mapping logic to translate The company product identifiers to Wayfair supplier part numbers, handling catalog alignment between the two systems
- Built scheduled and event-driven inventory push workflows so Wayfair inventory updated both on configurable intervals and immediately upon significant stock movements in The company
- Established error handling and retry logic for Wayfair API rate limits and response failures, ensuring inventory updates were reliable without data loss
- Created connector monitoring and alerting capabilities so The company's support team could identify and resolve sync issues proactively
The outcome
- The company merchants gained automated Wayfair inventory management as a native connector capability, eliminating manual update workflows
- Wayfair inventory accuracy for The company merchants improved, reducing supplier compliance issues related to overselling or stale catalog data
- The company's product offering expanded with a new marketplace connector, strengthening the platform's value proposition for multi-channel merchants
- Connector deployed at platform scale to serve multiple The company merchant accounts without per-customer configuration overhead
