The challenge
The company, a beloved San Diego art supply and design destination, was expanding its online DTC presence through Shopify while managing retail operations through Brightpearl. The two systems operated in isolation, requiring manual synchronization of orders, inventory, and customer data — creating operational inconsistencies as online order volume grew alongside their physical retail business.
What we built
- Deployed the Shopify Enhanced Connector to link The company's Shopify storefront with Brightpearl for full operational integration
- Automated Shopify order ingestion into Brightpearl for centralized order management across DTC and retail channels
- Configured real-time bi-directional inventory synchronization between Brightpearl and Shopify to prevent overselling
- Unified customer data between Shopify and Brightpearl to create complete customer profiles across online and in-store purchases
- Established automated fulfillment status updates from Brightpearl back to Shopify to keep DTC customers informed post-purchase
The outcome
- Shopify orders flowed automatically into Brightpearl, eliminating manual order processing and enabling unified fulfillment workflows
- Inventory remained synchronized across DTC and retail channels, reducing stock discrepancies and oversell incidents
- Customer records were consolidated across channels, giving The company a complete view of their customer base for retention and marketing
- The integration positioned The company to scale their online business confidently without adding back-office complexity
