The challenge
The company manufactures eco-friendly mud flaps distributed through auto parts retailers and distributors that require EDI for purchase order transmission. Managing inbound EDI purchase orders from SPS Commerce and manually entering them into Sage Intacct created processing delays and occasional order errors that affected fulfillment timelines.
What we built
- Integrated SPS Commerce with Sage Intacct to automatically convert inbound EDI purchase orders into Sage Intacct sales orders
- Configured outbound EDI documents — including order acknowledgments and advance ship notices — to meet trading partner compliance standards
- Mapped retailer-specific EDI transaction sets to Sage Intacct fields with trading partner-level configuration
- Automated invoice generation and outbound EDI 810 transmission upon shipment confirmation in Sage Intacct
- Implemented transaction monitoring to detect and alert on EDI processing failures before they impacted fulfillment
The outcome
- Retail and distributor purchase orders were automatically converted to Sage Intacct sales orders without manual keying
- Order processing cycle time shortened, enabling faster fulfillment acknowledgment to retail trading partners
- EDI compliance documentation was transmitted accurately and on time, protecting The company' retailer relationships
- Operations team redirected time previously spent on manual order entry toward production and logistics coordination
