The challenge
The company, a premier Washington State winery, operated Commerce7 for wine club memberships and direct-to-consumer sales alongside WineDirect for compliance-based shipping across regulated markets. Managing revenue from these two distinct channels in Sage Intacct required manual reconciliation that introduced lag in financial reporting and increased the risk of compliance accounting errors.
What we built
- Integrated Commerce7 with Sage Intacct to automate posting of wine club charges, DTC orders, and tasting room transactions as structured journal entries
- Connected WineDirect to Sage Intacct to capture compliance shipment revenue, tax, and fulfillment costs by state
- Mapped wine club billing cycles to Sage Intacct revenue recognition schedules for accurate period reporting
- Consolidated multi-channel winery revenue into a unified Sage Intacct general ledger with segment-level visibility
- Eliminated manual export-import workflows between commerce platforms and the accounting system
The outcome
- Finance team achieved a consolidated view of wine club, compliance, and DTC revenue inside Sage Intacct without manual data entry
- Month-end close accelerated by removing multi-source reconciliation across Commerce7 and WineDirect
- Compliance shipment financials were accurately captured by state, supporting regulatory reporting requirements
- The company gained scalable financial infrastructure to support continued DTC and wine club growth
